Free Food Distribution & Assistance:
  • YMCA Food Programs – the YMCA has a number of food programs, including
    • Drive through meal distribution for kids, 12:00-1:00 pm, Monday-Friday, at a variety of sites
    • Soup drive through for senior citizens and Veterans, at a variety of sites and different days
    • Large bags of food for families for weekends, distributed on Fridays, at a variety of sites
    • Other food distribution events
    • Contact Mel Curtis (Contact Mel Curtis @ 814-577-7259  <mcurtis@ymcaocc.org>) if you do not have transportation to a lunch pickup site – there may be a home delivery option.

  • Centre County Food Pantries List (Eight pantries as of 3/31/20) Compiled by Central PA Community Action, Inc.
  • State College Food Bank : This food bank offers 12 regular food distributions over a 12-month period for residents of State College, Port Matilda, Ferguson, Harris, College, Patton, Halfmoon, Taylor, Worth or Huston. To qualify, you must receive a referral from one of the partners listed on the site. 
  • State College Food Bank will be holding a drive through distribution of free milk on Tuesday , May 26, starting at 1 pm at the Nittany Mall. Distribution is open to anyone.
  • First Presbyterian Church of Bellefonte, 201-203 N Spring St, Bellefonte, PA 16823 has bag lunches for Pick up available Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 11:30 am until noon
  • Centre Helps emergency food program: Emergency food is available 24 hours a day. Call 814-237-5855 or 800-494-2500 for details.
  • State College Area Meals on Wheels
    • In need of volunteers.
  • State College Area School District school lunches – Place weekly order by 8 AM Monday for Wednesday pickup.
  • Lion’s Pantry for Penn State students – instructions online
  • St. Andrews Episcopal Church Community Cafe – A free takeout meal Thursday from 5-7pm. Everyone is welcome.
  • Sheetz – Free Kidz Meal Bagz, ongoing during COVID-19 crisis. Meals will be available all day, while supplied last, at all 600 Sheetz locations, starting Thursday, April 16th and will include a turkey sandwich, chips and a drink. An adult does not need to be present.
  • PA Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Assistance & COVID-19 Resources
  • CommonFood Centre County – a non-profit that provides under-served and under-employed elderly, single parent families, and low-income families in western Centre County and neighboring areas with nutritious food and related services.
  • Shop4Seniors — This grassroots effort matches seniors or others who are at high risk with COVID-19 with volunteers who can regularly go shopping for them. Participants pay for their groceries, but there is no fee or tipping for the volunteers who shop and deliver their groceries for them.
